Advocacy and Referral
Advocacy
Part of our mission at REACH is to empower people with disabilities to advocate for themselves and find resources to meet their needs within the community. To that end, we engage in the following activities:
- Civic Engagement training for clients and families to help them understand their rights and make their needs known to public officials
- Public forums and education for the general public and elected officials about disability issues
- Grass roots community organizing to help people with disabilities access the services and resources they need, and/or create new services where gaps in the system exist.
- Support and information for clients who are facing educational, financial, governmental or legal problems
Referral
REACH can help you find and use a wide variety of services and programs in your neighborhood. We keep directories of banks, churches, food shelves, healthcare clinics, used clothing and furniture stores, and transportation options to help you meet your needs. We also work with these community resources to help them adapt to better serve people with disabilities.
Our goal is to help you obtain needed services and understand your rights within your community. Please call us with your needs: 952-988-4177.
