Helping people with disabilities reach their full potential

Volunteer

Volunteers play a crucial role in our ability to serve children and adults with disabilities and we have many opportunities available on weekends, evenings, or during the day. Volunteers can work directly with clients, assist us with a special skill, serve on our board, or help plan a fundraising event.

Current volunteer opportunities include:

Recreation Assistant - Volunteers are needed to help facilitate our adaptive athletic programs and leisure activities for both children and adults with special needs. Possible opportunities include coaching a softball or basketball team, helping with a bowling league, assisting with an adult social club, or helping a child participate in a community activity.

Individual Mentor - Be a companion, helper and mentor to someone with a disability. Volunteers will be assigned to an adolescent or adult who can benefit from the positive influence of a "big brother or big sister" type relationship. Time commitments for this opportunity vary according to the volunteer's schedule and interests.

Board Member - Join our dynamic board and help guide REACH in our efforts to fulfill our mission. The Board meets the third Thursday of every month from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. in Hopkins. Our board members actively participate in fundraising, communicating with legislators regarding disability issues, strategic planning, and special events. The average monthly time commitment is 3-5 hours.

Fundraising Committee Member - We rely on individual donors and corporate sponsors to provide services to our clients. Volunteers are always needed to help with fundraising activities including recruiting donors, planning fundraising events, making phone calls, and helping with mailings.
