October 2016

World Mental Health Day is observed on October 10th every year, with the goal of raising awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilizing efforts in support of mental health. In observance of this day of awareness, we are featuring two of our mental health staff and the various supports and services they provide with Reach.

Lauren Phillips, Parenting Skills Educator

How did you end up working for Reach?
I ended up working with Reach because I wanted to get my career started and Reach seemed to be a great fit for me. I love working with people and I liked that Reach provided services for all kinds of people.

What services do you provide with Reach?
I work as a Parenting Skills Educator, so I provide in-home parenting skills for parents that are involved with CPS.

How have Reach mental health services helped the individuals you serve?
Reach has really helped my clients learn positive parenting skills that will enable them to be a successful parent in the future.

Caitlyn Ramberg, Mental Health Rehabilitation Worker

How did you end up working for Reach?
I was an intern in the community living department for my first year as an MSW student. I thought the company’s values were aligned with mine and wanted to stay a part of the company.

What services do you provide with Reach?
I am a mental health rehabilitation worker, in the mental health department. I provide support to individuals with a diagnosis of a mental illness to work towards their recovery vision. I work collaboratively with clients to improve the areas of their life they choose.

How have Reach mental health services helped the individuals you serve?
While I am new to this role at Reach, I have already seen the impact that mental health services have had on my clients. For example, one client has been able to re-enroll in an alternative high school program to finish her diploma after having been out of school for a year and a half.
