Steve’s Employment Story

Steve has become a familiar face at the Italian Restaurant Davanni’s after working there for over 30 years. His long-term dedication and hard work have made him a valued member of the team. Steve believes Davanni’s is more than just a workplace, it’s a place where he can build connections. He says he’s gotten along well with managers, coworkers, and enjoys meeting new people. Steve’s shift at Davanni’s starts at 8:00 am, and by 1:15 pm, he’s completed everything on his list. His tasks range from vacuuming, mopping, washing dishes, bussing tables, and even taking care of outside tasks. He says, “It keeps me busy and out of trouble,” with a grin.

Over the years, he has learned many new skills, from running the dishwasher to making pasta. Not only has this given him confidence, but also a sense of purpose as he contributes to a busy restaurant environment. One of his favorite memories is working with Reach’s Employment Services Manager Marcus, who would always stop by to check in and ask how he was doing. These moments might have been small, but they have stayed with him all these years.

Throughout his journey, Reach has provided support and guidance in securing his job, transportation, and even his work routine. Steve says, “It’s important to have a job,” and believes that it brings more than just a paycheck. It adds structure to his days and keeps him active. They have also helped him think about his goals for the future, such as taking a trip to Duluth and going bowling.
