Music Therapy

At Reach, music therapy is more than just making music. It’s a powerful, engaging way to work toward personal goals that go beyond the music itself. Led by our board-certified music therapist, sessions are designed around each individual’s unique needs.

Together with the participant or their caregiver, our music therapist helps set goals that may include improving focus, cognition, motor skills, communication, self-expression, confidence, or social skills. Whether it’s through rhythm, melody, or movement, music becomes a motivating and meaningful tool for growth. Check out our Music Therapy flyer.

Why Choose Music Therapy?

Music therapy at Reach is more than just a creative outlet. It’s a personalized and evidence-based approach to growth, healing, and connection. Here’s how it can make a meaningful difference:

  • Build Confidence: Through singing, playing instruments, or writing songs, participants gain a sense of accomplishment and pride in their progress. This helps boost self-esteem and encourages independence.

  • Enhance Communication Skills: Whether verbal or nonverbal, music offers new ways to express thoughts, feelings, and needs. It can support speech development, improve articulation, or help participants find their voice.

  • Foster Social Connections: Group music-making encourages teamwork, turn-taking, and listening. It creates a fun and supportive environment where participants can build relationships and strengthen social skills.

  • Improve Focus and Motor Skills: Activities like drumming or rhythmic movement can help enhance attention span, coordination, and both fine and gross motor development. All of this happens while participants stay actively engaged.
