Finding Focus, Friendship, and Confidence Through Inclusion

Inclusion Services at Reach for Resources kids participate in their city parks and rec programs.

Ezri is a curious, creative, and energetic kid who loves spending her time swimming, coloring, reading storybooks, and playing with her cats. She also enjoys staying active through Tae Kwan Do and gymnastics, where she can move her body, challenge herself, and build confidence. Like many kids, Ezri thrives when she feels supported and included, especially in group settings.

Because Ezri has ADHD, focusing and staying engaged during structured activities can sometimes be challenging. That is where Reach for Resources Inclusion Services makes a meaningful difference. With the support of an Inclusion Specialist, Ezri receives hands-on guidance during her Tae Kwan Do and gymnastics classes. Her Inclusion Specialist helps her stay on task, follow along with instructions, and fully participate alongside her peers. This extra layer of support allows Ezri to focus less on the barriers and more on enjoying the activities she loves.

Ezri notices the difference herself. “Because of inclusion, I can focus better and because of that, I have more success in my classes,” she shares. At gymnastics, that success shows up not just in skills, but in connection. “The group at gymnastics are my friends,” Ezri proudly adds.

Ezri’s grandmother, Melanie, has seen firsthand how inclusion support has helped Ezri grow and feel more confident in her activities. She has noticed that instructors recognize the difference as well. “Instructors have noticed a difference in Ezri by having Inclusion Specialists present during her classes to support her,” Melanie explains. “Ezri is able to get something out of what she is doing and she is enjoying herself.”

For Melanie, seeing Ezri included and supported means everything. “This support does a grandma’s heart good,” she says. “It makes a difference.”

Reach for Resources Inclusion Services are designed to help individuals like Ezri participate fully in community activities, build relationships, and experience a true sense of belonging. For Ezri, inclusion means more focus, more confidence, and more opportunities to connect with friends while doing the things she loves.
